This is a question with a reason behind it:
What is the largest caliber 'DP' gun you have created in RTW2?

Is there any research for DP guns past 5 inchs because I havent seen it.
I usually use the highest DP cannon available for my escort CLs, highest caliber of DP and Autoloaders for my Destroyers, usually 3 or 4 inches, and 3 inch DP for my Battle-X ships before I stop building them.
I've never actually seen them work. Most of the AA work, especially in the Mediterranean, is by my 0 armor 100 a/c Aircraft Carriers running CAP and the entire fleet desperately dodging torpedoes.

6" DP Autoloading as Mainbattery. The above served as late game AA escort.

6"
AFAIK thats the highest
4" and 5" can also get autoloader
Trying remember if 6" could get autoloader as well as DP

I have tried 6" DP main armament for old 4x2x6" and 3x2x6" cruisers using refit. I was suprised how cheap the refit was as I needed completely new turrets and guns (from Q0 to Q1).
But efficiency was very questionable as very small cruiser with 4x2x5" guns have much better heavy AA.
But it was in 1.01 version limiting research to 21 level.

I generally will go with 6" DP so long as the extra weight doesn't rule out something I want more like armor or speed.

5in guns for me but historically the county class heavy cruiser was armed with dual purpose 8in guns. Not effective but they did use them.
I remember meeting a older gentleman at my great grandfathers funeral who servered as a signal spotter on the HMAS Shropshire. That same man was present at the signing of Japan surrender and saud he had a good view up in his tower and with his binoculars.

Dual 5 inch DPs are my go-to (supported by smaller 3-4 inch DPs). Mainly because I am not sure how effective larger caliber DP is in this game.

I have access to 6in DP guns in my current game, but haven't used them.

This is a question with a reason behind it:
What is the largest caliber 'DP' gun you have created in RTW2?
This reminds me: what do you consider 'DP' in this context? One could argue that "heavy AA shells" for BB Mainbattery can be considered 'DP' aswell... then the answer is 18" DP guns.
