I'll disagree with that, williammiller. Let's take the 1st, most important naval battle involving carriers, The Battle of Midway. The Japanese carrier Akagi looked like she would have made it away without getting bombed, but at the last moment, three dive bombers of the squadron pummeling Kaga broke off, commanded by **** Best, and they made a run on Akagi. An interview later revealed he realized the squadron's mistake of going after only one target, which would seem to back up what your AI does, but this Lieutenant knew better. His two wingmen missed Akagi, having one jam Akagi's rudder with a stern water hit, but ****'s bomb penetrated deep into the upper deck and exploded in the hangar where Nagumo's carrier strike were waiting to spot and set off a chain reaction of fuel, bombs and torpedoes that doomed the ship. I made THIS POST about this issue a while back and I'm glad you finally decided to take a look at this problem. I can't tell you how frustrating it is to not be able to actually have a true carrier battle in this game because bombers will not fly to their destination without unloading everything on a KE in between them and their enemy carrier target. Don't forget to look at THIS POST regarding similar ship behavior. Be nice to get them both fixed. On the other hand some planes just attacked escorts and did not even tried to attack carriers. Are you referring to the Battle of Midway? Those were obsolete Vindicator bombers that knew they'd get shot down if they went after the carriers, so they wisely elected to attack a lone battleship on the edge of the formation.

I think they might have gone after a heavy cruiser as well. In any case, they weren't wasting their ordinance on destroyers and corvettes while a fleet is in sight, as often happens in game.

Someone blank out ****'s name in my above post about the battle of Midway? His name was **** Best. And he was one of the heroes of the Battle of Midway. Blanking out his name is disrespectful, imo.

Nm, It's an auto-blank catch all. Can an admin fix that? It's wrong. If you can't handle ****'s name, you suck.

The man's name was RICHARD Best, if you used the nickname for Richard, it will be blanked out, Guys. BTW, his latent tuberculosis was activated by the oxygen in his tanks and he had to retire from the Navy.. Oh, and I forgot, Best was the leader of the first division of Bombing Six.

Does seem like the filter might be set a tad high, IMO. I'm willing to accept that someone might call me a penis (I'll live) in exchange for not having posts about people named Richard auto-garbled. (I was legit confused by this instance. I don't know American pilots by name, and the short-for-Richard explanation didn't occur to me immediately. My first thought was that Dizzy had some kind of beef with this guy and was calling him names, but that didn't make sense either...) I don't wish to make the moderators' work harder, mind, but... While we've been having some issues there lately (much improved in the last little while, thankfully), I don't think those issues had much to do with profanity, as much as tone and personal attacks. Much harder to auto-filter, but on the plus side I think we can trust everyone to be responsible and save the d-word for people named Richard and, where appropriate, the most phallic of megadreads.
EDIT: Cross posted with Mr. Miller, so I guess that's a no. But I'll leave it, because I had a smile when I figured out what was happening and maybe someone else will enjoy the image of me scratching my head and trying to figure out what Dizzy's saying.
