The other nations ships showing ZERO speed in almanac are just bad intel, right? View AttachmentIt has no impact on gameplay, but its also a bug I’m fixing in the next update The ships all have their correct speed in battle and matchmaking, I just broke the intel system for some ships

I'd like to restart the mod from the beginning, how do you go about that?
Delete the Save 6 files and copy/paste the country of choice start?

1936 Mod is forcing aircraft model upgrades which are playing havoc with carrier fighter squadrons and preventing any build up of ground based air other than flying boats and medium bombers. Is there a way to force squadrons to keep or switch to older models - F3F instead of F3F B and now F3F C. It's 1938 and war has started, carriers can't fill up fighter squadrons because of these model changes. Plenty of "older" model (F3F) on hand to fill squadrons. These model changes seem to be hard wired, because I've rejected both fighter upgrades. It's going to be a long war if this keeps up. Anything a player can do by playing with Obsolete toggle (so far it has not worked for me)? Carriers with no or just a few fighters. Not good. Plenty of F3F available to fill squadrons. I've had similar problems with multiple generations of aircraft not cascading - 5 generations of fighters in service when there should be at most 3.

I'm confused what the problem is with the squadrons, it looks like they are full? With 14/14 fighters for all of your squadrons? I'm not sure if the issue with the F3F upgrade path and ignoring your decision is a bug from stock or caused by the mod, I'll have to do some testing. And you're saying the obsolete button doesn't work for the old F3F models? Looking at the second screenshot it looks like all of the fighter squadrons that aren't filled are F3FB squadrons, and if its a new model those will simply take a bit of time to fill in. That's from the stock game. The game will always fill new squadrons with the newest model, and you can't set them back unless you obsolete the new aircraft.

Quote - I'm confused what the problem is with the squadrons, it looks like they are full? With 14/14 fighters for all of your squadrons? My mistake, Lexington was not a problem. The CVs and CVLs coming on line are the problem. CVLs Princeton and Cowpens are the best examples. They are active ships, can be sent into battle, but with few or no fighters. The reason Independence looks bad in March and good in April is that I swapped fighter squadrons between Langley and Independence before sending Langley to rebuild. March 1938 April 1938 See next post - at attachment limit.

CVs Wasp and Intrepid are working up, but I have no faith that their fighter squadrons will be up to strength when they go active. April 1938 Regarding "obsolete button", well yes, I can make them say they are obsolete. But what does that do? It doesn't seem to have any effect on squadrons being re-equipped with new models. I want to STOP squadrons from being re-equipped, because if a squadron gets re-equipped with F3F B's the displaced F3Fs just go into on-hand. And now F3F C's will be replacing F3F B's. Meanwhile there is a stock of F3F models and a bunch of unequipped fighter squadrons . . . on active carriers that are subject to being called into battle. Are you saying I can set F3F C to obsolete while there are still no squadrons equipped with them and that will stop the madness?

My guess is that part of the problem is the US starts 1936 with no land based air, little in the way of stockpiles and very low production of any type of aircraft.
Production seems to be about 10 aircraft of each active or current generation aircraft model per turn. (Having 3 active models of fighters still only gets you 10 new aircraft of the most modern model per turn.)
A player can build a lot of airbases, but can't put squadrons on them due to lack of production. Building land based fighter, torpedo and dive bomber squadrons just makes the equipping of carrier squadrons worse, or so it seems.
What can a player do to drive up aircraft production? Or is it a trained pilot issue rather than actual factory output? The base game is a black box in this regard.

May 1938 USN Aircraft Types report. Looks like more CVs and CVLs than I'm going to have aircraft for.

July 1938 CV Franklin commissions and all 3 fighter squadrons are equipped with F3FC, newest model but marked obsolete with none on hand. Peachy! Now what do I do??? Another carrier will be commissioned next turn. Since I have not yet saved I'll go back to July and mark F3FC not obsolete and see what kind of production I get. My guess is that production of F3FB will halt before all the squadrons equipped with them are at full strength.

Hmm, so it seems like everything is working right, except that aircraft production is just very low, preventing you from filling up a bunch of new squadrons. Now, I'm not sure if these numbers are normal for the game, as I haven't tested how many aircraft are normally produced. That would make a good question to the developers
Actually I'm gonna guess this is entirely a problem with the F3F-C, as the dive bombers are being produced normally, correct? If you un-obsolete the F3F-Cs and run the game for a few turns see how it turns out.
Here's my guess for what happened -The obsolete function doesn't entirely work for later models of the same aircraft. -The existence of the F3F-C restricted the production of the F3F-B -The obsolescence of the F3F-C meant it wasn't being produced either.
Just for fun, send me your save file and I can look through the encoding of those aircraft

I suspect the mix of aircraft I use (50% fighters) has something to do with why they and not other types are more at issue. That and their being 3 generations of F3F whereas the bombers had 1 or 2 generations.
The torpedo bombers are only 1/6 of my carrier load out, dive bombers 1/3.
Do you know what (within player control) affects aircraft production and number of trained carrier pilots?
Are there other hard-wired aircraft models that will show up?
How do I send you a file?
