Need help with creating mods.

Hello all!

Today I was looking through all the mods released for both RTW 1 and 2 and I realized that, even that thought a lot of custom nations mods existed, no one had tried to make a full fledged, alternative world, with new nations and new possesions, so I thought that it will be very interesting to try to make one, especially now that I have somewhat more free time, and see what comes of it. The thing is, that I dont have any idea of how to mod this game 

For being able to create a new alternative timeline I will need to:

    -Create 7 new customs nations, replacing the old ones in the process

    -Modify the possessions and home areas of the whole world, adding or modifying them when needed


I know that both things are possible, as other people have alredy done so, even thought probably making 7 new custom nations will be definitively time consuming, I think is feasible .Nevertheless, like I said before, I have no previous experience moding the game, so if someone knows of a tutorial or can explain me more or less how to do it, it will be perfect.

Adding new regions or changing the map is fairly difficult, but just making new nations and assigning the territories should work

You know, I had had a similar thought just a short while ago- while I was reading a kind gentleman's guide to creating colonies and sea zones. But I was thinking of going even further and crafting a full alternate world to go with the full custom nation spread. A pipe dream to be sure, but could make for an interesting community project.

That would actually be pretty awesome. Think it would also be a good idea if we (the community) could create a guide to modding or something which explains what file and/or value does what.

Sorry for not anwering before, I was somewhat busy this past days, but yeah, it will be cool if we could make this a community project. If we get 7 people working on this, each one making one single custom nation we could get it done relatively easily. Nevertheless, we would need people that actually knows what they are doing. I tried to toy a bit with the custom nation editor for RTW1 but nothing clear come out of it.

But if you are interested we could try to make it a reality. I had also alredy thought of how the alternative world could be, and I think one loosely based on "Divergences of Darkness" a Victoria II mod (tried to search for an official page or wiki, only could find this: victoria2divergences.fandom.com/wiki/Victoria_2_Divergences_Wiki ) could work very well. Its lore its actually quite interisting (France and England remained united, Burgundy still is a thing, Castille joined with Portugal, instead of Aragon, Venice is still a major power, having even a colony in Florida, etc...) and will make for interesting and diverse nations.

I guess I could make another tread presenting this as a community project, and see if someone is interested, but I want to wait until I have got some knowledge of how to mod first
