Assuming the bug I've reported about foreign shipyards and build times gets fixed there is one factor that comes into play regarding how much a ship "Costs" to build. Namely if a nation with poor education and/or underdeveloped ship building produces a ship themselves, the longer build time means the total cost is spread out across more months, lowering the month-by-month budget hit. Meanwhile if you were to have your ships built in the UK, because they build them faster than everyone else, the monthly cost is higher because there are less months to spread the total cost out among. In the end you're still paying the same total amount, but with a more efficient shipyard, its taking up more of your monthly budget.

I know it's not a priority for you right now Fredrik, but would it be possible to add a couple of features to the ship profile editor?
-Program should remember the last folder from which files were opened for accessories (rather than defaulting to the ship's set # folder each time you press the "..." button).
-Improve mouse precision - right now the editor moves parts around in 2-pixel increments and a lot of parts end up misaligned. It would be great if we could move parts in 1-pixel increments instead.
-If possible, prevent changes to masts/decks/superstructure from overwriting all accessories placed over hull/deck.
-If possible, add a basic ability to zoom in on the picture (right now I basically worked around it by using the built-in Windows magnifier).
-If possible, add a couple of extra layers for accessories (e.g. allow accessories to be placed not just always in foreground, but also behind hull/superstructure/decks, and in front of hull/structure/decks but behind foreground). That would make putting ships together a lot easier!
-If possible, add ability to generate hull/stacks/turrets again without erasing the already-placed ship parts on the picture.

Oh cool, I had no idea about the arrow keys also being able to move these! However, they still move the parts in 2-pixel increments, rather than just one (although it's much easier to hit the right position with them from the first time).

I'm pretty certain the keys only move 1 pixel. Very noticeable using set 4. Drop the superstructure onto the deck until the deck line dissapears. Then tap up once and the deck line reappears. It's only raised by 1 pixel. Iirc the page of the manual (last page?) even states the keys move only 1 pixel, and that 6 pixels are the equivalent of one deck.

I know major work on RtW has stopped in favor of the sequel, but if you ever do get around to another wave of bug fixes and tweaks, here is a small quality of life improvement that would be swell. Because honestly, I find the Move Ships window an annoying hassle.

Just a very quick thing - along with the research % rate option, would it be possible to adjust the time/cost of shipyard construction?

Being able to mod the cost and effect of the manual dock increase and the size and frequency of the automatic dock increase would be amazing.
I'd like the various lines on the battle map (esp. sighting range) to draw during continuous play (or at least have an option to enable this).

Another small change that would be nice would be a stronger difference in the color or type of circles drawn for sighting range and max gunfire range. Right now it is difficult to tell the two lines apart.

If we are proposing small changes, it would be very nice to be able to detach ships and force them permanently (rather than until they reach end of visual range) into given direction, so you do not have to send 3 ship squadron to port just because one is leaking or heavily damaged.

I'm assuming the RTW team is monitoring this thread and any good suggestions will be added to RTW2. Obviously I'm equally guilty here, but we all should probably just be posting these suggestions in the RTW2 Suggestions thread.
