Is there a chance destroyers can get a displacement raise in 1950s-1960s because in my opinion a 2500 ton destroyer is a bit small in the post game plus they could be considered Destroyer leaders since adding a whole new classification might be difficult. Another class that deserves a displacement increase would be the corvette since if we are looking at them also being classified as frigates for mainline service they should get a raise to possibly 2500 tons in the post game especially when the DLC comes out with more missiles hopefully.

Destroyer possibly to 3,500-4000 Destroyer leaders 4,500-5,000 but then again these could be classified as Light cruisers.

The game more or less officially ends in 1950, the ability to play to 1970 is there to allow wars that are ongoing in 1950 to wrap up. The tech tree doesn't include much/anything that was introduced after 1950 IRL, so I don't think tonnages are likely to be adjusted for post-1950 play.
