What oldpop is suggesting is save file editing. While this may work if you know what you're doing, I would not recommend it for a nation swap; instead, I would suggest editing the WarInfo file (which defines which opposing powers will show up in a new game using the selected power) for the nation whose opponents you wish to change, or creating a full custom nation if you don't want to change the base version of the nation but do want to have the option to have an alternate set of opponents for it. Yes, but the CustomNat file says this "The limitation is that a custom nation can be played, but cannot be used as an opponent nation." He wants to do this "Is it possible to change the enemy nations that the player will face?

Is it possible to change the enemy nations that the player will face? Possibly to even add player made ones as opponents. How? I'm also trying to create near-historical start fleets for everyone. I've replaced a lot of the existing AI designs to try and encourage diversity (and avoid the "this year everyone is building Dreadnought clones" effect) with varying degrees of success... Since the AI seems to pick just two or three designs of each type the fleets are still not historically diverse yet. I'm trying to find a way to pick everybody's start fleet but it's quite cumbersome renaming all the ship files etc, unless I'm missing a trick? You can't actually pre-pick them but I'm editing the turn one files... This is kind of my thing Can you clarify what exactly you're trying to do? It seems like you want each nation to choose its own historical designs. That can be difficult because of the generic ships that can be built by all nations. Outside of modifying the AI designs, the only other way to choose starting fleets is to build a save file from scratch, which is how my mods work Do you know if there is a way to make my "custom nations" have custom ship names to choose from since the beginning of the game? Instead of trying to rename all of the existing ships in the save files? I know I can create a brand new nation file with appropriate ship names and stats but it doesn't like like I can change the "FileName" line in the BNat files like the save files. The line simply does not exist in BNat.

What about the block of mission info below that--do I have to replace that with [something] from [somewhere]?
