New Laptop, Windows 11. Repurchased RTW2. Installed it. Started a new game in slot 9. Built the fleet and saved as January 1900. Closed and went to the RTW directory to save the game folder for future starts. The problem, gentlemen, is that the RTW Save folder only shows Game Folders 1 through 5 and they are empty except for a temp file. Reopened RTW and the game was in the 1 through 9 game list and loads everything. However the RTW/SAVES Folder still only shows folders 1 through five, empty. How can I get the Save folders to all appear and show the game files/data for the Game? Sorry, but computer illiterate. Any suggestions gratefully appreciated. Thanks in advance. (This being a new machine "Kick it across the room!" is not acceptable...)

'Recent' versions of Windows don't like programs writing to Program Files, so it probably put your save directory somewhere like C:\Users\(your user name)\Program Data\Rule the Waves 2\Save instead of in the install directory. You might also try searching for a ship class file or an RTW-associated file extension (e.g. *.bcs) in the file explorer if you can't find it in \Users.

(This being a new machine "Kick it across the room!" is not acceptable...) I just started a game and saved it to save to Game 6 . I then restarted RTW2 Version 1.26 and the game loaded. I am using the latest version of Windows 11. Let me do some research, it may be a simple problem.. Just go in to save in RTW2 and create a Game 6 folder. Then restart the game, and create a game, save it to Game 6. Let me know how that works while I research this. Enjoy.

Aeson, The path is C:/Program Files(x86)/Rule The Waves/Save. Folders for Game1 through Game5. Empty. Added Game9 and started Game 9 in the new game process. Still no data appearing in the Save games files. Updated to version 1.26 and everything the same. Thanks for the idea though. Pop, Nawp, didn't work.
Thanks.

The easiest way is to install game in other directory as eg. C:/Games. You can do it even now and move Rule The Waves directory outside of Program Files folder.

And what I'm telling you is that Windows probably created a \Users\(your user name)\Program Data\Rule the Waves directory and has the game writing save files there rather than in the Program Files\Rule the Waves directory, because 'recent' versions of Windows don't like letting programs write to Program Files.

Aeson, You were pointing in the right direction but I was looking behind the wrong tree. I deleted the game and opened a new folder I named NWS. reinstalled the game in this folder and got around the issue you were pointing out - Windows not wanting to write to a Program Files Directory. Everythings okie-dokie now.
Thanks very much for your suggestions. Thanks to Pop too.

Is it possible to move a saved game from one PC to another? I tried just copying files from the save folder in one game and dropping them into a different save folder on the other machine and no joy. There has to be a way to do that?

There has to be a way to do that? That’s strange, it should work without issue. Make sure the save goes in the same slot as it was taken from. Also make sure both instances of the game are the same version.

There has to be a way to do that? By save folder do you mean the folder named “Save” or the ones inside it(ie “Game1”). You need to copy the “Game#” folders in their entirety to move saves, copying the files within won’t work. Copying ship files won’t have restrictions though

I'm just dumb.
