Ok so a specific question for the expansion. Currently in game all propellor aircraft are defined by game files, and are thus moddable, but all jet aircraft have been hardcoded into the game when they were added through updates. Will Jet Aircraft in the update/Expansion be moddable through AircraftBasicData.dat or will their data remain hardcoded and thus unmoddable?

This sounds like a Fredrik question, but I will try to find out. aeson may know too, but I'm not sure what we can say on this. This might be a Tuesday answer. - but you may stamp it Read and Responded at least.

We will need 'Early Warning Aircraft' Radar equipped plane roles...

Early Warning (and Electronic Warfare, etc) aircraft are already added - they are part of the 'special squadron' that a carrier can embark.

Greetings to my Fellow Naval Combat Aficionados,Firstly - my apologies for the delay in this announcement; it has been a trying last few months for NWS since Christopher left us, but we have recovered and have been moving forward in good order. With that out of the way, let us get down to what you have been waiting for - news and/or updates! 1. After *lots* of discussion between Fredrik and myself, and including feedback from our wonderful NWS Beta Team members, we have decided that the upcoming release should be a standalone game, namely "Rule the Waves 3: Ironclads to Missile Cruisers". We have worked on this project for ~ 2.5 years now; with the amount of changes and additions, not to mention improvements in many many areas, we realized a short while back that the work has gone well beyond a simple expansion/dlc...we somehow passed 'feature creep' and entered the realm of what I like to call 'feature bloat' at some point in the past it would appear :-) The previously released 'Expansion Catalog', while it showed much of what was included at its release, will likely become somewhat outdated as additional work is done for the final game release - more details of this will be coming out in our marketing campaign later on. The exact price point for the RTW3 game has not yet been decided, but it will fall close to our (NWS) typical price range for our new games, somewhere in the 35-45 range is my best guess right now - the exact price will be set/announced later on. We do plan to put the game on sale at a *reduced price* for the first week or so of the release, which will effectively give anyone who wishes to take advantage of it a good price break. 2. Release date: The game will be released in OCTOBER of this (2022) year. THIS IS A SOLID RELEASE WINDOW. This release window gives us some additional time to 'finetune' the game, and a chance to add even more new features and useful changes as well in the meantime! 3. STEAM: Yes, we plan on a Steam release at the same time as the game is released to the store!!! The initial sale price (that I mentioned above) should also apply on Steam as well as on the store. Below is just a sample of the updated ship graphics for RTW3, courtesy of our talented Beta Team member John Smith (jwsmith26 ):

Delighted to hear you've gone with the RTW3 idea! Will allow the game Room to grow further over time and be able to receive it's due. Thank you for all your very hard work on this in what have been trying times. You have all our respect and I, for one, will wait with great anticipation...

For the sake of your sanity, please don't let the Steam Community come too close to your hearts. It can be quite toxic to some extend. For the rest, great to hear and can't wait fot the summer to pass

So, when you told VTOL planes will come in RTW 3 - will they come now?

So excited for the new game, I can't wait to try it out. I've been playing lots of rtw2 after work. Since it is going to be a new game now is it going to get vertical launch cells or still the existing missile systems? And will Heavy Bombers be a thing for Land sites? I see some references in the existing game but nothing I can use.

One thing I am wondering is if coordination of coastal forces(Like MTBs), and land based aircraft is something we'll be able to research towards the very end of the game. Maybe even giving broad(IE go to sector) orders to subs?

I think putting the game on Steam will be huge for you guys. I have tried to tell multiple people about this game, and I have gotten a "you mean this thing isn't even on Steam." A little disappointed to wait until October because I have been waiting to start a new campaign for a while now until this comes out. Still I would rather have a finished product. Thank you for the hard work!

Interesting Update. Really looking forward to RTW 3.
While there might be some people that might be a bit disapointed by it being a standalone game instead of a DLC, I personally don't have any issues with it, I've had so many fun hours with RTW2 it was worth every cent, and I'm confident that RTW 3 will provide similar value for money.
Steam also sounds like a good idea, now I might finally be able to pursuade a friend of mine who bought RTW 1 but not 2 to get it.
