Posted this on discord, figured people might like it here. This is how you transfer an enemy ship to your own navy after a war
The steps for manually transferring a war reparations ship would be, after BACKING UP YOUR SAVE
# Indicates a variable number dependent on your save
1. Search for the ship name in RTWGame#.bcs
2. Copy the listing from the lines "Ship#Id=#" to "Ship#OrderedAreaName=XXX", and either keep it in your clipboard or paste it somewhere else to copy from for step 5
3. Set "Ship#RepairTime=0" to "Ship#RepairTime=100" in the original listing
4. Set "Ship#Fate=War Reparation" in the original listing
5. Search "[Nation0CoastalArtillery]", go to the end of the line above it, press enter, and paste the original listing
Here's where it gets tricky
6. Look at what your last ships number is, for example, "Ship142OrderedAreaName=XXX". You then need to change every number in your copied listing to Ship143...... This is pretty easily done in notepad by highlighting the text and using the Replace All function
7. Search "[Nation0Ships]", and change the line above it to 1 higher, for example "ShipCount=143" to "ShipCount=144"
FINAL STEPS, editing one other file
8. Go back to your save folder, for example, game 5. Each enemy nation has a number assigned to it, that corresponds to the order it is shown on the foreign relations panel. For example, the US is Nation4 in the UK start.
If the enemy class corresponding to the ship is named Colorado, you will copy the file named "Colorado.54d". So that's "(ClassName).(Game#)(Nation#)(d)". Copy and paste this file somewhere else where the original file won't interfere.
9. Change the name of the file to "(ClassName).(Game#)(0)(d)", so in our example that would be "Colorado.50d" On windows you do this by clicking rename, and clicking once more so the file type is editable. You'll get a quick popup saying the file might become unstable(It won't), so just click that you're sure.
10. Copy the changed file back into your save folder.
