... Apart from the size - is there a specific RTW folder, where the pics should be saved before using them? Unfortunately I can' remember that from SAI days ... Thanks!

In the RtW game folder there is a folder called 'Custom Files' and images can be placed there to be selected when you need to chose a picture for your designs in 'Ship Designer'. The 'picture name' feature in the RtW Ship Designer has a button to allow you to browse for a picture, you can go to the 'Custom Files' from there. The picture function has not yet been added to RtW, but it is expected soon.

Got it ! I was trying to apply pictures to vessels already under construction, pictures have to be selected for the design and saved before construction starts, after that the design file is frozen. Looks like I need a re-building program to get new ship designs with pictures attached. Thanks.

If the programming allows it, wouldn't mind the ability to change non-functional features of the design, even after building starts. The picture would fall into that, and so would the ship graphic, which I frequently decide later doesn't look that great.
Ability to add a picture after a ship is built would also allow people to match the side profile scale to the top view scale, so they go together well.
All of this, of course, is way down the priority scale.

In the beta you CAN change pictures after the ship is built. Just use the "Change ship picture" function in the menu in the main ship list. The pictures should be placed in the save directory for the game.
BTW with Gary's permission I am experimenting with an automated side view generator using Gary's components. It does the basic hull, turrets and funnels, and the player can then add superstructure and similar to spruce it up, much as the top view works in the ship designer.

Thank you for the continued enhancement of this great game Fredrik! At one time I was considering undertaking a very laborious task of pre-designing ship side art for almost every possible combination of funnels, guns, etc, which the player would then need to scroll through to find the right one. However, if you can get an automated ship designer to work in game that would make life tremendously easier!!

I think you have provided enough components to create just about any design, which is very useful until the automated picture system is available.

Are you using the 1.22 patch or the 1.21? The 1.22 patch is the one with the picture function.
