What directory is the saved picture in and what file format is the picture? PNG, JPG or BMP? Thanks for trying to help! I tried both - JPG and BMP - and saved them in my relevant game folder. The problem occurs every time when I try to open them with the final change ship pic step. Perhaps I should try a brand new installation of 1.22.

Strange. Is anyone else seeing this? I was at first attempting to put pictures into ship designs that were already under construction and the system will not allow the design file to be over written to save with picture, but no problem with new designs. You have given advice which I haven't needed to try yet - ' In the beta you CAN change pictures after the ship is built. Just use the "Change ship picture" function in the menu in the main ship list. The pictures should be placed in the save directory for the game.'The size of the ship pictures in the game is 640 x 160 pixels and that is the image size I am creating in .jpg ( I don't think the game recognises .jpeg files), this seems to work fine. I am placing the image files in the 'Custom File' game folder and it's all working OK. Thanks for adding the feature back into the game.

Strange. Is anyone else seeing this? ... It seems to me that the problem was caused by saving the pics within the relevant save game folder. After finally saving them under custom files everything went fine.

Well, I finally got one of these done... I was very excited to see lattice masts on the last pieces-parts catalog. :-) My treaty-limited 1903 battleship class. Served (with two rebuilds) until 1922.

Nicely done cwemyss! I love how you have your profile exactly matched up with the lines on the top view. Makes the ship come alive.

I'm an engineer, man... I can't help it. If it's not a proper 3-view (OK, in this case two-view) it's not worth it!

Just a tiny bit of feedback/confirmation re: picture support in 1.22 beta 4 -- like it's reported by others, the pictures work fine when they're placed in the "Custom Files" sub-folder of the game, but not when they're in relevant save game folder. (in the latter case the name of selected picture can be seen in the "ship picture" field when you open the ship design, but the Picture tab in the Details window shows blank)

These look great. I'm totally ignorant of how to start piecing things together, what program/s are you using?
Also, as almost all images in books are side views, being able to have similar views is really excellent. The design view is ofc just what is needed for design work, but the side view ties the ship into the existing 'normal' way of viewing ships

For convenience, you'd want to use a graphics program which supports composing a picture from number of separate "layers". Adobe Photoshop is one such program, and if i'm not mistaken, GIMP which is a free alternative also has this functionality.

I also use paint.net, it works very well for stuff like this.
