those projects were defeneatly reality
large ships in game simply do not fit with their tonnage
try to build a yamato in game and you will be falling several thousand tons short
fit that 410mm belt with 8 inch deck 10 inch turret roof 26 inch turret face 27 knots and 18 inch guns combined with the fact you need 6x2 5 inch tertiaries and 4x3 6 inch secondaries
a hangar with 7 planes 2 catapults
oh yeah also you need to fit that in 63200 tons
oh yeah and this is in 1970 with max tech via file editing
The tonnage should be a bit higher as the game doesn’t use standard tonnage
The biggest problem is that deck and turret armor seem too heavy
deck armor is defeneatly too heavy BY ALOT and so is turret armor
examples on a 70000 ton ship an 8 inch deck weights 17k tons
same goes for flight deck armor
for example a 5 inch flight deck armor in game on a 60k carrier weights as much as a 5 inch flight deck armor covering 260x40x0,127 meters (127mm thick) that being 13k tons assuming a 7750kg/m3 weight which is the weight of steel
also for some reason a yamato turret weights 2x as much as a yamato turret should which is interesting of course most of this goes into the barbette but it is still too heavy
assuming yamato has 3 turrets and each weights 5400 that would be 16200 tons total weight
and yamatos total armor tonnage was 22000 tons in real life
in short armor weights WAYY WAYY TOO MUCH
now lets try some fun math
200*30*0,2 = 1200 m^3 1200*7,750=9300 tons
this means an armor plate 200 meters long 30 meters wide and 200mm thick weights 9300 tons
a piece of deck armor in game 200mm thick weights 16000 tons
this means
either the armor piece is 250 meters times 40 meters times 200mm thick
which is a total volume of 2000 m^3 and with density of armor steel being 7750 we get 15500 tons
this giant plate of armor would cover almost the intire yamatos hull in lenght
comparison picture (large red box is 250*40 plate small red picture is actual deck plate
i recreated yamato and the total armor weight (not including turrets or barbettes) was 29500 tons
with barbettes it is 37600 tons and with turret armor on top (each turrets armor weights 1.842 tons) this means barbette weights 2700 tons individually the guns and turret mechanism are 858 tons and the turret armor is 1842 tons
43100 tons is dedicated towards armor

it is to be mentioned i lowered the ships total displacement down to 63000 tons
this means on a 63000 ton ship with 3x3 18 inch guns
4000 tons are taken up by machinery (i am using a mod)
43100 tons are taken up by armor
2200 is taken up by tps 4
and 12000 is taken up by hull and fittings
and 2000 tons is taken up by ammunition (80 rounds)
that is ******* insane
70% of this ship is taken up by armor weight ALONE
weight calculations in the last part were done with a 63000 ton ship on almost max tech (20 across the board) with the exact same armor values as yamato
