That sounds about right in my experience as well. Like srndacful, I've seen some variation in the result for major victories/defeats, but nothing that didn't make sense

If it helps, I've noticed a substantial preference towards BCs in the two games I've played. Didn't really go too heavily cruiser-oriented in either game, and in one game I deliberately focussed on building more BBs, and most nations continued merrily building BCs (and I didn't have a heap of CLs or the like). Two games isn't a trend though, so hadn't said anything yet, but it did feel like the AI had a strong preference for BCs ahead of most other types.

Hahaha - look out, better start building a maginot line to cope with Japanese land cruisers!

Great data ddg, and thanks for the analysis - I was pretty sure from experience that declining colonies meant a great increase in base resources, and that the nation that was defeated wasn't hurt (or at least wasn't hurt much), but nice to know how it works precisely .

One of the (many) things I like about RtW is that, every now and again, you get put in a no-win situation. In a war with the US, and I get a cruiser mission (always fun), so press the 'go' button, and it's my BC Malaya, 3 DDs and a scouting CL. They bump into 3 BCs (two of which are a little larger/more capable than Malaya and, sadly, 1 knot faster), so I throw the DDs into a flotilla attack to turn and run, and then this happens! It didn't end well for Malaya or the DDs, but Cambrian managed to escape to report the fate of the other ships. Love the brutality .

37 capital ships in one battle is quite the broo-hah-hah!

Almost finished my second game on 1.31, and as well as the noted features, I really appreciate the little touches, like the keyboard shortcut button in the tactical view, or convoy attack/defence missions now working much better. Now played over 200 hours since getting this in Jan this year (which for me is a _lot_), cheers for all the good times .

Cheers for the quick update, greatly appreciated . I was planning to start a RtW game this weekend, and had been holding off (although how could an MS or DD ever be unwanted - small ships forever . Looking forward to tearing it up (and perhaps a little getting torn up as well )

We have found the cause of the unwanted autobuild problem. A patch will be out within a day or so. Thanks for the feedback and to those who have provided savegames! Thanks very much for looking into it and getting to sort it so quickly .

Hey Director, if emails an issue to Fredrik, you can always shoot it to me (starts with axe99, then an at, then a bigpond, then a com, with dots in the right places - sorry to write it like that, but I'm not terribly keen on getting robot spam) and I can Google Drive it to Fredrik. It does sound like an odd bug!

I did say I TRY to stay calm. Sometimes my blood gets up... but I am learning that a battle that goes bad early on rarely turns around if you just keep on. All of Director's tips are good (I adopted his "main battle line at a couple of knots below max speed" and haven't looked back - I'll often try and get my B's up to 21 knots ASAP, sometimes from the start, and then BBs to 23 knots, so you've still got a decent base speed, and can keep up with early BCs long enough to maybe get a lucky hit in if you go full speed), but this is the most important I've had to learn (often the hard way). The only fleet actions I've had turn around are when I'm playing an RN game and there are a couple of "British Boom" flash fires early (so my fleet is still in a reasonable tactical situation, it just has bad luck), but I've still got enough ships to beat the enemy (I tend to go for quality gunnery and slightly quicker capital ships as well as well, so usually can manoeuvre my ships so that even if at a numerical disadvantage overall, they can get local parity and use better gunnery/guns to cause trouble - having fun in a game with Japan shredding the colonial powers this way). Most of the time, though, if the other guys start winning, I need to remind myself the war won't be decided by one battle, with the possible exception if I'm stupid enough to keep fighting and they sink more of my ships*! * On this note, speed is handy here as well. If the other guys are quicker, it doesn't matter whether you want to disengage or not. I had an unlucky 'Cruiser action' where one of my starting CAs lined up against a modern French BB with 14 14" guns and a 23 knot top speed, and there was nothing I could do other than watch the French BB pound my poor CA into oblivion.
